Conference Interpreter and Translator

About Fadhma Izri

Fadhma Izri is an interpreter, translator, and interpreter trainer based in Washington, DC. She provides simultaneous and consecutive interpreting services from English into French and Arabic.  She also occasionally provides consecutive interpreting between Berber and English. She is a contractor for the U.S. Department of State, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Defense, and  she works with translation agencies in the US and across the world.  Fadhma is KUDO-certified in remote interpreting and is proficient in other RSI platforms, including Interprefy, Zoom, and Zoom.Gov. As a translator and editor, Fadhma works with premier translation agencies, many of which rely on her expert skills to finalize their projects and consider her a preferred language service provider.

Having taught consecutive interpreting at the college level, Fadhma continues to offer training and coaching for prospective and practicing interpreters. She speaks at conferences on the themes of teaching consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, and intervenes academically on the topic of language contact.

Fadhma's extensive travel throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa has positively impacted her cultural awareness – a key element in the translation and interpreting profession. Coming from a multilingual background and society, Fadhma considers herself to be privileged in that she is a native speaker in three languages: Arabic, Berber, and French. However, as a professional translator and interpreter, Fadhma is also aware of the importance of continuous development of language and metalinguistic skills for translators and interpreters. She constantly trains and learns.  She prepares her assignments by thoroughly researching topics of discussion and keeps open and fluid communications with her clients and outsourcers.
